I don’t watch many movies, but when given the choice, I prefer to watch the director’s cut version.
It’s more interesting that way.
For example, I first watched the Rocky vs. Drago match from Rocky IV in the theatrical version. Then, I watched the director’s cut, and the few extra scenes added more depth to the characters and overall movie.
It’s better to cut as much as necessary to improve the overall piece.
But it doesn’t hurt to keep an extended edition around for the few that would enjoy it.
