I must honor the stories handed to me

With every interview I conduct, my confidence in this project grows.

I might not be aware of what is happening at this very moment, or how I’m feeling.

But know that the personal stories shared with me keep me going.

With every story, I develop a personal responsibility to honor them.

Each story is tied to an individual, yet each story represents many individuals who’ve undergone similar experiences.

I love stories because they make me feel like I’m never alone. That someone has gone through what I’m going through and has felt what I’m feeling.

That, at some point, they were in my shoes.

And even stories of those who lived completely different lives resonate with me and touch my soul.

I love my fate.
I now carry the weight of those who risked arriving in the United States for a better life.

I must serve them well during this project and for the rest of my life.
