You come across a bug rapidly flapping its wings while trying to get back on its feet.
Do you help it?
Or do you keep going?
In any case, what would come out of helping such a creature? It’s a bug.
It’s not like the bug will reward you for helping it by giving you a ride to your destination, or invite you out to coffee. In fact, the bug doesn’t even expect you to do anything.
Why help it?
If you keep going and refuse to help get the bug off its back, then it’s likely it will stay there, still struggling.
That may be fine for you, but what about the person who comes after?
What if that person happens to be a child? A child who doesn’t know any better and messes with the bug, or worse, touches it and faces an unfortunate accident.
Does the fault lie with you, who refused to help the bug? Or the child, who couldn’t ignore it?
Or does it lie with the bug, for staying stuck on its back and bringing attention to itself?
Or perhaps no one is at fault?
