Every generation thinks it’s standing at the edge of something new.
But most of what we call “progress” is a continuation;
a thread we didn’t start but now hold.
If we pull too hard, it snaps.
If we stop pulling, it slackens.
Our task is to keep the tension just right so the thread doesn’t break,
and the story doesn’t end.
