Live Each Day As If It Were Your First

I’ve heard far too often the adage of living each day as if it were your last.

But why? Is that even good advice? I ask because if I knew today was my last day, then morality would be the least of my concerns. I’d indulge in all of my pleasures if I knew I wouldn’t be around to see the aftermath of the chaos I ensued.

And if these are just my thoughts, I can’t even imagine what others would do if they saw the end.

A better piece of advice I heard is to live each day as if it were your first, because the first of anything is most certainly memorable.

You wake up and feel privileged to breath air for the first time.
You walk around and feel fortunate to walk; to speak; to listen; to eat.

You have this new sense of wonder about the world when you treat it like you’ve never seen it before.

This is the perspective of someone who understands that life has much more to offer.
