There were over 275,000 layoffs last month— though there were also 228,000 US jobs added during the same time. Regardless, more jobs were lost than gained.
A 205% increase that hasn’t been recorded since the economy shut down in 2020 because of COVID.
Most were from the public sector, but no doubt is the job hunting market becoming more competitive.
In the past, it was normal to work for one company throughout your life and work upwards.
But now it’s normal to switch different companies—sometimes even industries.
Today’s a skills-based economy, and if we’re not developing skills for the future, we’ll get left behind.
