Adult jobs are the jobs that pay the bills. You might not like the work, and there may be days where you want to just sell everything and run to a faraway land, but it’s the job necessary to provide you with the resources you need.
Kid jobs are the jobs you like, but may not pay enough to keep your lifestyle alive. The downside is that it may pay very little, or may not pay at all. But that’s when you’re starting out. That’s when you’re still exploring and figuring out what you like and don’t like. It’s like being a kid again and playing in your sandbox.
And like kids, most people get bored with their toys and move on to try something else. But the kids that keep playing, the ones that get in trouble by their parents for staying out too late or being engrossed for too long, those kids are the ones that found something they truly like.
Hours will go by without them noticing, and even the slightest of tinkering and experimenting brings them joy. They find pleasure in playing, regardless of the outcome.
Adult jobs require responsibility, qualifications, and productivity; Kid jobs require freedom, inexperience, and creativity.
The biggest room for growth and innovation comes not from adult jobs, but from kid jobs.
And you don’t need to be qualified to have a kid job.
If you want to create something and give it to the world (think ideas), it needs to come from a place of being a kid, not being an adult.
An adult limits you, a kid makes you feel unlimited.
The longer you keep your kid job going, the more success that will come out of it.
Many give up before acquiring the joy of playing, and the skills that come from it.
So, keep experimenting, keep exploring, and keep playing.
Your kid job is what gives joy and meaning in your life.
Find one you like and stick to it.
Here’s my inspiration for the day.
Great is the human who has not lost his childlike heart.
