Archaic English

Is it weird that I feel more comfortable reading the words of the past than the words of the present?

Why does the archaic English language resonate with me more than the English language we use today?

I find joy in reading the texts published more than 100 years ago, though slightly edited to adapt to a modernized world. But the way in which sentences were written sounds natural to me, more than how sentences are written today.

By the time I get through the bulk of my readings from long ago, I’m afraid my writing style will have been influenced in ways my contemporaries would have trouble understanding.

Maybe that is a good thing; maybe not. In any case, I enjoy what I’m doing and will have no qualms about how others perceive me.

I am in no rush to impress the critics of today.
