Playing A New Role

The idea of reinventing yourself is akin to playing a new role in your life’s story.

Shakespeare famously wrote in his play, As You Like It:

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts…

If the world is a stage and we are all its players, isn’t it strange to expect we’ll play just one part? To be in one role?

A person is obligated to play many roles in their life.

Many men in the past stepped into new roles when the world demanded it: Churchill, Lincoln, Mandela.

Sometimes, it’s by choice; other times, it’s by necessity.

Go not against the current too much—you’ll exhaust yourself.

Go with the current and see where it takes you.

If you have a dream, that’s even better: everything you do will serve a purpose.

Those who endure do so by adapting to the shifting tides of time.

Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.
