Road Traffic and Internet Traffic

I opened my computer to begin writing and noticed I haven’t had any traffic coming into my website in the past couple of days.

That’s fine with me because I haven’t focused on attracting visitors to this site; I’ve prioritized the consistency of my writings.

But isn’t it weird we use a word we love to have on the internet and hate to have on the road?

Traffic in real life means vehicles moving on a road or public highway. Too many vehicles on one road causes heavy traffic. Heavy traffic delays us from arriving at our destination. We don’t like it.

Internet traffic refers to the flow of data across the internet. For a website, it means more people are visiting the page, resulting in more views and more visitors. Traffic on the internet is a good thing.

We use one word for two definitions that lead to different outcomes. To the uninformed, they’re the same.

Here’s my inspiration for the day.
