Stop Using The Word ‘Aspiring’

I’m an aspiring writer.

I’m an aspiring painter.

I’m an aspiring musician.

What does that mean?

The word ‘aspiring’ describes someone who is working towards achieving something in a field or activity.

It’s someone who has lofty dreams.

That’s good. It’s great to have lofty dreams.

But why feel the need to include the word ‘aspiring’ to what you are already achieving?

Are you not already writing? Are you not already making music?

Aspiring sounds like you’re identity revolves around the idea of wanting but never starting.

An aspiring entrepreneur is not an entrepreneur; it’s someone who wants to become an entrepreneur, but hasn’t taken any action that backs up their want.

Don’t limit yourself to such a category.

Instead, call yourself by what you’re really doing. And if you haven’t started, then take the first step.

You’re a writer if you write.

You’re a painter if you paint.

You’re a musician if you create music.

Great people rarely start out on the right foot. But at least they started walking.

Here’s my quote for the day.

Waste no time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.
