As technology advances, I become more fascinated not by what is shiny and new, but by what is old and still functioning.
Seriously, a vinyl record player becomes more interesting to me the more I think about it: how does it work? How can a scratch on a flat disc moving in a circular motion produce the exact sounds you want it to make due to the ridges on it? How could someone even think to create something as unique as that?
When I think of something that was created with the knowledge and resources of their time, I become invigorated.
Because if they can do what they did with their resources, then I can do the same with mine.
And fortunately, I have far more at my disposal.
