The purpose of launching this blog was to force myself to observe my days carefully.
I planned to observe something each day and craft something profound and meaningful to share with the world.
I also call my blog posts, ‘daily drafts,’ because they are all first drafts, which, according to Anne Lamott, are often our ‘shitty drafts.’
This is intentional for two reasons: to get these drafts published as quickly as possible and move on with my day; and to share with others my worst work, so that they’re encouraged to share their process, and that everything I produce is not great.
After reading my recent posts, I have achieved one of my two goals. I succeeded in publishing daily drafts. But I failed in crafting my daily observations, resorting instead to my thoughts on what I’m interested in as a crutch.
I’ll likely continue to do so, but I want to remember my ‘why’ for this long-term project and remind myself of why I started in the first place.
I’ll work towards writing more about my daily observations, because that’s where the mundane becomes interesting.
But the fact that I’m still here is a good thing.
It shows I care. It shows that I’m ready for the next step.
Here’s my quote for the day.
Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.
